Rotamate began life when a young man was scolded by his mum for letting the washing get ruined in a shower while she was out at work. That young man was Roger Hind of Wirral in Northwest England. He was 17, on holiday from school, and had better things to think about than watching the skies and minding the family’s laundry. Which got him thinking…
Why had no-one thought of it before? Surely an airer without weather protection was as much use as an umbrella without a cover!
The rest, as they say, is history.
Now a successful entrepreneur (and not one to let a good idea lie idle) Roger started Rotamate by developing and testing prototypes, finding a manufacturer and setting up his business – and then he left school!
“It has been a very exciting time developing Rotamate” says Roger. The last 12 months have been one success following another. Rotamate has won national recognition at the Young Brits Innovations Awards in London, the environmental sector is particularly excited by the role Rotamate has to play in reducing households’ carbon footprints.
